Hello Blogging World!

First thing's first, please don't judge me for my cheesy domain name for this blog. I happen to enjoy puns and thought "Accounting for Life's Adventures" would address both my practical thinking from being an accountant as well as my desire to travel and go on adventures (in the most cost effective and sensible way possible, of course). So that explains that. :)

I have given much thought as to whether or not I should start a blog for my upcoming trip to Uganda. Mostly for the preservation of memories and partly for the efficiency of uploading pictures and stories to one location, I have decided (obviously) to give it a go. Please don't hold me accountable if this is my one and only post as I'm not sure how easy it will be for me to keep people up to date on the happenings depending on wifi and electricity availability (apparently it can be quite unreliable).

So, here I am preparing for a trip of a lifetime to Jinja, Uganda. I am both excited and scared out of my mind. Samantha and I will be volunteering at an orphanage (Amani Baby Cottage) for six weeks and we leave on Saturday. What seemed like months away is now only five days. I have lists going to help keep me calm but even that's not working too well anymore and anxiety is kicking in. But I know that God is in control and I am trying to put my trust in that truth. Please pray for Sam and I, that we will be kept safe and that God will use us to spread His love and hope.

Well, that's about all I can think of to write right now. The next time you hear from me I should be in a climate much warmer than here and in a country where a tall, blonde Dutch girl will stick out like a sore thumb.
